Partner Spotlight: Constellation Brands

Aug 27, 2018

  • Global Leadership
  • News

Over the last year, Constellation Brands’ Beer Operations Services team has been working to improve their cultural intelligence to work more effectively across country borders (Mexico/U.S.) as well as within domestic teams. They created a Culture Team, a guiding coalition of passionate employees, to move their team into action. Cultural Intelligence (CQ) has been an integral part of this internal movement.

Action Taken
Starting August 2017 with a leadership kickoff, the Culture team initiated session with leadership, a keynote on CQ at an All Hands meeting in October, and in-house trainer CQ Certification in November 2017 certifying 9 facilitators. In 2018, we partnered with the newly certified facilitators to deliver 6 sessions (3 in Mexico City and 3 in Chicago) to reach all 100+ employees.

Impact
With sessions concluding in August 2018, Constellation Brands will continue to measure impact via employee engagement surveys. For immediate take aways, participants shared ways CQ will help them live out the Golden Rules as well as change their behavior in daily interactions with colleagues:

  • Slow down! (For native speakers of English)
  • Be cognizant of how people communicate
  • Don’t make assumptions
  • Don’t blame others—own it!
  • Just because something is different does not make it weird
  • Pay more attention to non-verbal cues (Video calls are critical!)
  • Try something new!

A big congratulations to Constellation Brands’ Beer Ops Culture Team for your accomplishment!
